Best Day Of Your Life
It’s so much fun hearing a little one say something kind (and cute!) like “Have a great day, girls”… especially to a couple of grandmas and to know that little boy or girl has made those ladies’ day! I used to have the kids repeat sweet things to people when they were with me at school or out shopping. “You sure look pretty today” always got a response! The kids loved the attention and the rave reviews...and people always smiled and enjoyed the fun, sweet moment. It was a win-win.
Face it, children uniquely touch people’s hearts!
Plus, I wanted my kids to get a taste of making others happy, to feel the joy of making someone laugh or smile! I believe we can develop an appetite In our little ones (and big ones!) for being used to encourage others. So I wrote these lyrics (on Best Buddies CD#3, releasing this week!) for them to give a blessing, just by singing this song;

I believe giving our kids a perspective of speaking life over others gives them a sense of purpose and confidence. It’s a grownup thing to do and sets them apart. We chose as part of our family culture the family identity of being encouragers. We modeled it to our children and we taught them that everyone needs encouragement! And that when we encourage others, we become encouraged ourselves.
I learned I could never underestimate the ability of even the youngest little ones to naturally encourage, to embrace acts of kindness and display a genuine sensitivity. I’ll never forget Destiny hugging people we were visiting or hosting in our home, and saying “I hope you feel better soon!” Those moments are priceless as we saw each of our children begin to unsolicitedly speak their love and encouragement to those around them.
Your children will follow your lead…and seeing them become loving caring adults will truly be one of the BEST days of your life! Remember, always focus on having patience with YOUR FAMILY… and patience with YOURSELF! Whatever season you are in, make it the best! ❤️
